This is the only guide you need on how to save the world.
This may sound corny, but it’s not. You may think this is grade ‘A’ bologna . It is not.
If you’ve jumped around our website a bit, you’ll pick up our favorite statement: you are nature.
You are nature is a simple, yet potent, reminder to all of us that we are a part of this world ecosystem and not separate from it. The way we operate on the daily has us caught up in societal concerns, rather than the ecological. Our real, foundation “society” is ecology.
“Ecology is the science that studies the biota (living things), the environment, and their interactions.”
We are ecology, operating within our own micro-environment of society.
Read more on the deets of our micro-ecology in this post about living in the matrix.
Macro and Micro
So, what does “micro-ecology” have to do with saving the world?
Well, it introduces the concept of micro vs. macro perspective and the importance of each. This sets-up the foundation for how to save the world.
The human species has a micro-ecology within the ecology of all species inhabiting the planet. What we do within our micro-ecology (society) effects the macro-ecology (the overall ecology). For example, by burning more fossil fuels, we are affecting the quality of our air and the environment of other species.
Therefore, if we are more care-full in how we operate our society, we will also be taking more care of the planet.
How can we concentrate this equation to make the most potent impact?
Focus on you.
Focus on your cells, organisms, bacteria, organs, neural pathways.
How do you save the world?
Save yourself.
You read it. Take this as your excuse to be selfish. Don’t mistake selfishness for narcissism. Being selfish means putting yourself before others. Narcissism is when your act of selfishness is at the sake of negatively affecting others. It is important to respect the autonomy of others as much as we respect our own.
So take care of you before you take care of anyone else. I mean, who else is here to take care of you? That’s rhetorical.
Our parents aren’t here to take care of us. Our parents are here to help us understand how to survive on this planet, and teach us the ways and norms upon it.
A critical missing element within most modern cultures is the “right of passage” in one’s youth. This is a defining moment in our growth as humans, for it marks the fact that we are sovereign beings.
We are each born onto this planet as a sovereign being. Remember that.

For starters, if you know what spiritual bypassing is, you’ll know that title of this blog post is a solid oxymoron. (Pretty proud of myself on that one 🙂 ).
Spiritual bypassing isavoidance. Plain and simple.
So you’re really asking yourself, “how do I avoid avoiding?”
Right. Let’s break that down further.
What Is Spiritual Bypassing?
Spiritual bypassing is using spiritual practices or beliefs as a scapegoat for avoiding one’s difficult emotions.
A spiritual bypasser could believe that they are doing their “spiritual work” by practicing yoga every morning. Of course, a daily yoga practice can be spiritual if the practitioner uses the exercise as a tool for working out unresolved internal issues. If the yoga is used mainly as a physical exercise, then the practice is not inherently spiritual.
Alas, there is no such thing as “inherently spiritual”. (Except the fact that we are all inherently spiritual as we all inherently have spirit/are spirit. But I digress…)
“Inherently spiritual” implies that a state of spirituality is a given. Yet, the magnitude of one’s spirituality is in direct proportion to the amount of attention that it’s given.
Ok. So how to stop spiritually bypassing? Stop avoiding.
Avoiding. What are we avoiding? What do we need to pay attention to?
Emotions. Emotions are very important. Read this post to learn more about the energetics of emotions.
Of course, difficult emotions can be hard to face and engage with. One of the main reasons I started this blog is to make coping with emotions easier for all of us. I strongly believe that emotions are the most powerful tool we have. Yet, I also believe they are the most misunderstood tool we have.
Ways to Work Through Emotions:
1. Write it down.
Everyday, make a practice of writing down your current emotion and putting it on display. Consider this emotion through the day. Give it your attention. As the day unfolds, you’ll be able to pick apart why you are feeling that way. Once you acknowledge why the feelings are there, be sure to thank them for bringing whatever it is to your attention. Continue to feel through the emotion, and when you’re ready, let it go. Feel the flow.
2. Use a subconscious reprogramming practice.
Pick up a subconscious reprogramming practice.
There’s a lot of people and practices out there speaking on manifestation. If you find someone with a manifestation program, just make sure that part of the practice includes digging into the not-so-great feelings. It is critical to uncover and understand the low vibes we’ve got going on before we work at reprogramming our mind for positivity. If you skip right to the positivity, you are spiritually bypassing.
Here’s 2 people whose practices I have had personal helpful experience with:
Lacy Phillips (manifestation intuit) and her company To Be Magnetic. You can subscribe for less than $1/day to gain access to archives of workshops and daily hypnotic meditation recordings. With each recording comes journaling work and practices to get at the core of your issues.
Marisa Peer (speaker, author, hypnotherapist, creator of RTT). Marisa Peer provides plenty of free content on her YouTube channel concerning breaking free from any internal constraints. She also has written several books to help reprogram your subconscious. The first book I read of hers is Ultimate Confidence, and it helped kick me back up into my authentic, confident self.
3. Feel it through.
This has already been said, but it’s important enough to say again. This deserves it’s own headline.
Emotions need to be felt through. Feeling is how we allow circulating energy to discharge from our bodies. Emotions are meant to be transient messages, not trauma keepers trapped within the depths of our veins. Emotions are waves, so ride the waves.
A tip to make the feeling process easier: when you acknowledge the emotion you’re feeling, observe it as if it’s not yours. This makes it easier to understand, respect, and allow the process of letting it go.
Flow is an organic state of being. Flow is the ability to release control and allow natural instinct to guide you. The concepts of flexibility, ease, grace, looseness, and release contribute to a flow state.
Stress, tension, and force are in direct opposition to flow.
Checkout this post to learn more about the importance of existing in a flow state.
To lead the most successful life, it is critical to work with nature and not against it. Existing in a flow state is working with nature.
Well, great. Easier said than done, right? Not necessarily. Your natural existence is in flow, so you simply have to return to your natural state.
So how do we strip away the garbage keeping us in tension?
Here’s 3 ways to stay in flow:
1. Adopt a physical practice.
Yoga, skateboarding, and surfing are all forms of exercise that immediately come to mind when thinking of “flow”. Yet, literally any physical practice will assist you in staying in flow. Doing something physical becomes a practice of navigating all aspects of yourself within a task.
This allows you to build trust between your physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual selves. Once you build trust within yourself, the practice will become meditative and clearing. Consider muscle memory. Build trust within yourself in a skill, then let go of your “trying”.
Every athlete knows that 90% of the game is mental and 10% physical. Successful athletes are able to trust their abilities and not overthink each step of their sport.
2. Acknowledge your emotions.
Emotions are the ultimate example of flow because they are energy in motion. Energy in motion.
We will get sick by blocked emotions, trapped energy within our bodies, as much as we will by any virus or bacteria we encounter. Emotions are meant to be paid attention to, as they are our original communication source.
Emotions tell the truth. Truth is nature and nature is flow. Emotions are flow.
Just remember that emotions are your friend, no matter what. They are there to tell you something.
3. Trust your gut.
Your gut is your inner knowing. Your gut is also your physical gut. These two guts both have a seat at the table of your mind. They also both have a lot to say.
It is important to trust your instincts (your inner knowing). Instincts are sourced from your energetic blueprint, your pure form before 3D world programming.
Consider trusting your gut to be just like muscle memory for athletics. Don’t overthink, just do. Respond to your instincts.
As for your physical gut, listen to that too. A happy microbiome is a happy person.
Thank you for reading. Keep on flowin’, y’all. Tubular.
The #1 most important principle to start your day with.
The #1 most important principle to start your day with: FLOW.
One day I was listening to one of my favorite podcasts —Ancient Wisdom Today by Shaman Durek– and something Shaman Durek said resonated with me deep to my bones. His statement resonated beyond my bones and back into the universe. What he said was something akin to, “if you wake up each morning feeling like you have a knife to your throat, then you need to do whatever you have to do to stop that. Your life depends on it.” [I’m paraphrasing his words from memory, but thought I’d put in quotations anyhow.]
Shaman Durek’s words really hit me at the time, because I was not happy with my day job. I woke up each day in immediate stress mode. It was terrible. One morning, I reacted so tensley to my alarm that I slipped on the floor getting out of bed and landed on my tailbone. Ouch that was a solid wake-up call. (Pun intended.)
Tension is not a healthy state to live in.
To understand this physically, imagine that you’re driving through an intersection and see out of the corner of your eye that you’re about to be hit by an oncoming car. You have a split second to prepare yourself for the encounter. You can react in fear and tense up, or let go of control and loosen your whole body. You’re more likely to break bones by tensing up than loosening up.
Loosen Up
Loosening up provides shock absorption to whatever you encounter. This priciple applies to all aspects of yourself: spiritual, mental, physical, and emotional.
In summary, Shaman Durek meant that nothing in life should be forced. Force goes against the laws of nature. Nature is a constant state of flow. With force comes resistance.
Have you been trying to break a bad habit but the habit remains? The habit will remain if you haven’t addressed the reason for the habit. If you haven’t addressed the reason, then you are forcing a change.
[Learn the secret to breaking bad habits for good in this post.]
The more you let go, the more things will flow.
Do you ever wonder why surfers are so laid-back? It’s because they practice physical embodiment of the flow-state.
Think of Neil in the Matrix, dodging bullets. If you want to dodge bullets, let loose. Be flexible. Mold your body to what comes at you.
What to Do if You Wake Up Stressed Out?
Firstly, if you wake up stressed out, understand that is okay. A lot of us do. We have a lot of stuff (I call it “furry b*sht”) going on in our world. There are a lot of outside influences to cope with as we manage our inner state.
Steps to take if you wake up stressed out:
Acknowledge out loud that you are stressed out.
Say “thank you” to your feelings of stress, as they have brought something important to your attention.
Analyze why you are stressed out. What dissatisfactions come up with your daily life?
Write down steps 1-3 after stating/talking through them each outloud.
Now write down one small task you can complete today to change your circumstances. For example, you could start with telling your partner/a friend that you are unhappy and why.
Repeat this practice as often as you find helpful.
What does it mean to take your power back? Back from where? Where does our power go? What power?
Oooh…get excited!
What is Personal Power going to do for you?
So why should you care about personal power? Well, if you relate to any of the following, you’re seeking your power back:
Feeling limited in your potential
Feeling stuck
Creatively constipated
Feeling victimized
Unsatisfied with life
Feeling depressed, anxious, angry
Read on to discover HOW TO TAKE YOUR POWER BACK
Energetic Power
We are all born with the power of being alive and conscious beings. Life is energy and energy is power. By definition, we are power.
Humans are made up of matter and energy. The matter is our physical self and the energy is our non-physical that enables the physical to evolve. Our ability to think is energy. Talking is energetic vibrations bouncing around our mouths. We eat food to sustain our energy, have sex to create more energy, and exercise to regulate our energy.
Everything we do involves energy.
Energy is what we share in common with nature. This is why we are nature! The natural world is all energy just with varying degrees of it. Humans contain so much energy that we have the conscious ability of self-awareness. Self-awareness and communication set us apart from the other species on the planet.
Status of Homosapiens
It’s easy to forget that we are part of the beautiful natural world that we live in. There are some people who believe that humans today should be characterized as a new species due to our nature divorcement. They argue that instead of homosapien (“wise man”), we have become sapien domesticofragilis (“wise, fragile, domesticated man”). I learned this term from Daniel Vitalis and Arthur Haines on the ReWild Yourself podcast. Daniel and Arthur are two really interesting people living the lifestyle of neo-aboriginals, in other words they are rewilding. They are returning to our roots as hunter gatherers, adapting within the modern world.
Have you ever seen the t-shirt graphic showing an ape on all fours transforming into a walking ape, human, and then human slouched over a computer screen? Well, this demonstrates exactly our progression as a species. We’ve evolved growing upwards until we started shrinking ourselves to view television screens and computer monitors.
We have progressed in our evolution to the point of outsourcing all of our basic needs to someone else. This means that we are paying money to some other person/entity to provide our shelter, food, and water. Most of us pay for these basic needs with a currency earned through a separate task completely divorced from our needs for survival. This outsourcing is one example of how we have “given away our power” because we are using a middle-man to sustain ourselves.
Now, being able to outsource our needs isn’t necessarily a bad thing for it gives us the gift of time to do and create other things. However, it is a good example of how simple it is to give away our power without realizing it.
Okay…but what is Personal Power?
So far we know that we are power-ful beings. We also know that modern society is set up in a way for us to forget our direct connection to nature and energetics.
I am writing this article to remind you that everyone of us was born onto this planet whole. We are born knowing that we have full personal power to take care of ourselves.
Babies are the most sovereign and honest humans alive.
Personal power is sovereignty, or being able to operate indepently from anything or anyone else.
Before we learn behaviours or pick up patterns, we scream, shout, cry, poop our pants, spittle, we do whatever it takes or get the attention we need to attend to our energy. We are born knowing fully well what we need and we are not afraid to ask for it. This is sovereignty. We are also born aware that we are too small to do things for ourselves, so we ask for help from the grown humans to fulfill our needs. Asking for help is still maintaining sovereignty. Giving away sovereignty would be accepting help when you don’t need it.
How we lose sight of our Personal Power: Subconscious Programming
Childhood is a very critical time in our lives. Not only do we receive help from the adults to attend to our needs, but we also rely upon them to understand how the world works. We develop our subconscious mind during childhood, which is where we store all of our automatic actions in our minds.
This means that if we are crying and are told “shush,” then we will develop the subconscious program to hold in our feelings when we are upset because no one wants to hear it. The older we get, the more patterns like this we will pick up. By the time we are well into adulthood and living “on our own”, we are have picked up so many subconscious programs that we disable ourselves from sovereignty.
The Power of Emotions
Most of the habits we pick up involve hiding our emotions, as society has built a story-line around emotions equating to “weakness”.
Emotions are “energy in motion”. E-motion. As we discussed earlier, energy is the cornerstone of life. This must mean then that emotions are also very important. Emotions are our energetic communication system.
Babies are born with the ability to communicate through their emotions. Emotions are truth, as they have a direct connection to your energetic needs.
When we start hiding our emotions, we are suppressing our truth. If you use words as your main communication system, detached from emotions, you are giving away your personal power. By doing this, you are choosing to uphold some external order above tending to your own needs. Fret not, most of us do this. This is what the world has become – an externalized self-propelling machine.
It takes a lot of conscious thought – thus, energy – to deprogram and remember your own autonomy through emotions.
How to TAKE YOUR POWER BACK
The “secret” to personal power is feeling.
Feelings are our foundational communication system, before words. Words are meant to express our feelings, our emotions, but instead words have come to express societal formalities.
We continue to uphold societal power structures (“the man”) by handing over the reigns to our emotions. We do this when we react in fear.
FEAR:
What is “false evidence”? “Evidence” represents an experience that your brain registers a lesson from and creates a subconscious program based on. “False evidence” is a subconscious programming that we receive from others, telling us how to react. This is “false” because no one is in control of your emotions and reactions except you. This is the true understanding of personal power.
No one can ever make you feel some way.
You allow someone to make you feel some way, which means that you are in control. This also means that fear is a mirage. Fear is an illusion of lack of control over your own feelings.
You are in complete control, always.
You choose to feel how you feel, but remember that no matter what emotion it is you are feeling, it is a valid energetic movement within you. Every emotion is communicating to you, especially fear. Fear is your mind’s way of keep you safe. So, if you are afraid, be sure to asses what you are reacting to and indeed if it is a threat to your safety. If it is not a true threat, then your emotions have been hijacked. Simply reclaim them.
Your emotions are either hijacked from someone else’s subconscious programs, or your own.
So, to reclaim your power:
Remember that you are in control of how you feel; and
Reprogram your subconscious to get rid of habits that no longer serve your protection.
Feel your energy through. Emotions are your true communication power.
Reclaim yourself. Take your energy back. You are in full control…to let go.
